Banana Fudge

When it comes to classic, old school treats that my grandma used to make, banana fudge is one of the first ones I think of.

The banana flavor is so nostalgic for me, and it’s a big hit at all of our family gatherings. This fudge is so creamy, has such rich flavor, and is so easy to make.

Plus, the bright yellow color is so pretty and appetizing! This is a great treat recipe to have on hand when you don’t have a lot of time to bake something, and an easy recipe to create with your kids too!

You can whip it up in ten minutes and then let the fridge handle the rest. If you are feeling festive you can decorate these with sprinkles, drizzled white chocolate or even toasted coconut flakes!

Fun fact, did you know that fudge got its name from an accidental “fudged” batch of caramels? Hence the name! It was a happy accident that originated in Baltimore in the late 1800’s. It’s been a classic treat ever since!

How Long Will The Fudge Keep?

It will keep for up to 5 days, and there is no need to refrigerate it. I keep mine in the refrigerator, but only because I like my fudge cold, but that’s just me! Store in an airtight container or in plastic wrap.

Does This Require Real Bananas?

We are not using real bananas in this recipe. Instead, we are using instant banana pudding mix for the flavor, but you can always add sliced banana on the top if you would like.

If you do decide to use real bananas, I would recommend keeping the fudge in the fridge so it lasts longer.

Choosing The White Chocolate Chips

For this recipe, I used Ghirardelli white chocolate chips. If you would rather have a more chocolatey fudge, you can swap the white for semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Make sure to purchase two 12 oz bags of chocolate chips so you have enough for three cups. Each 12 oz bag only contains 2 cups of chocolate chips.

Can I Sub The Banana Pudding Mix For Another Flavor?

Yes, absolutely! Feel free to use any flavor you like; the rest of the recipe remains the same. Coconut or butterscotch would be delicious!

What If I Don’t Have An 8×8 Pan?

Hey, I didn’t have one either! I used my two 5×7 Pyrex containers and they worked great! I cut mine into 24 squares but can cut them to any size you like.
