Nutribullets have changed the way we make smoothies and process vegetable and fruit juice. They are fast, convenient, and can easily blend anything you throw at them. But how do they stack against ice?

Nutribullets are designed to blend everything seamlessly thanks to their powerful motor and cyclonic chamber design, but many people are adamant about not using ice with this blender for several reasons.

How true is this? Can you put ice in a Nutribullet? The short answer is, yes. You can put ice in a Nutribullet and blend it until it becomes like snow. To ensure even mixing, however, pour in a bit of water or other liquid with the ice to create a strong vortex that’ll pull the ice down into the blender.

Read on to learn more about how to use Nutribullet to blend ice!

What Are Nutribullets Good For?

Before we begin explaining what Nutribullets are not good for, let’s first explain what it is made for.

Nutribullets have a powerful 600W motor. The company also makes other high-powered motor variants and processing appliances too. Nutribullet promises proper nutrient extraction through its powerful blade design.

It processes food by spinning them within the blender creating a cyclone-like shape thanks to its elongated design. This allows for the food particles to travel from the top of the chamber to the bottom where the blade is.

This mimics exactly how a cyclone whirls wind around going from top to bottom – except Nutribullet does it much, much faster.

In fact, even the lowest 70W variant is rated to reach up to 18,000 RPMs. That’s a lot! And it also happens to be enough to process every type of fruit or nut.

Nutribullet’s selling point is its extraction method. It blends all the ingredients together using its unique design and its powerful blade and motor. It is said to even blend strawberry seeds until the entire mix is smooth and homogenous.

But how does this machine achieve this feat?

The Mechanics Of Nutribullet

Nutribullet works best with water. Why?

Because you need water or pulp or any other moisture-rich food to create a stable vortex.

The food within the chamber has to circulate and move around freely with enough liquid content which is why Nutribullets are usually great for smoothies and other beverages.

But when it comes to solid food that doesn’t have that much moisture, well, Nutribullets don’t fare that well.

If you were to compare Nutribullets to a food processor, you’d find that the food processor or even a standard blender would process dry food better than a Nutribullet.

This is because of how the blade and the chamber of a regular blender are designed. It has a flatter bottom and the food basically topples over itself multiple times until it reaches the blade and gets processed even further.

In a Nutribullet, when you blend dry food, it will mostly stick to the sides and only some part of the food will get processed.

This means that you will have to scoop up the edges and put it back at the center of the blender to make it work properly.

Can It Blend Ice?

When it comes to ice, things are a bit different.

Sure, ice is made of water, but it is a solid, and as irony would have it, when you try to blend large blocks or cubes of ice it would blend exactly like how dry ingredients would

This means that some of the ice would get stuck on the edges due to the intense centrifugal forces while other uneven and solid pieces of ice would still remain within the chamber. Does this mean that Nutribullets can’t blend ice?

No. Nutribullet can indeed blend ice but you may need to change your approach so it fits with how the blender is designed to work.

To blend ice, simply pour in a bit of water in the chamber and throw in the ice. Don’t worry, a little water is not going to make your ice runny. It will probably mix with the ice shards as it blends.

This way, the water will create a stable vortex that will help blend the ice in an even way.

When it comes to smoothies or other drinks, Nutribullets can plow through everything all at once because the mix will be wet enough to circulate the entire chamber thoroughly.

Ideally speaking, if you are using Nutribullet to just blend ice, then we wouldn’t recommend doing that.

While ice cubes will not damage the blender or the machine itself, the entire process is very inefficient and time-consuming.

A better way to blend ice would be to use smaller ice cubes. This way, the ice cubes can fall down the blade as they get processed.

If you use large ice cubes then you might risk leaving some of them unprocessed because of how the ice cubes are stacked above each other.

Of course, when it comes to adding a few ice cubes in smoothies and drinks and blending them together, it’s all going to work well.

Nutribullet can easily process everything together as it would if it didn’t have ice at all.

Nutribullet also offers a range of other appliances that can make your life even easier and if you want to blend ice until it’s like snow, then you may want to check out the brand’s other offerings too.

Nutribullet Variants

Nutribullet makes a lot of variants based on the design philosophy of its original Nutribullet blender.

You can easily find other variants with up to 1700W of blending power. Nutribullet also offers different shapes, sizes, and attachments for its blenders too.

Here are some of the most popular Nutribullet blenders:

  1. Nutribullet Pro
  2. Nutribullet Pro 1000
  3. Nutribullet Select
  4. Nutribullet Rx
  5. Nutribullet GO

Each of these blenders have a specific role in the kitchen and will cater to different needs.

For example, the Nutribullet Pro blender is powered with a 900W motor instead of the standard 600W motor which gives it much more power and blending abilities.

It can completely blend food, ice and create sippable smoothies in a few minutes.

The Nutribullet Pro 1000 is similarly designed with a 1000W motor that delivers even more power.

What will one do with this much blending power, you might ask? Well, it turns out, the higher the RPM the quicker the blender can process food and crush ice too.

This means that you will save time, effort and will be able to blend hard-shell foods with ease. You can throw in leafy vegetables, whole fruits, ice, seeds, and more in one container and blend them all in no time.

If you are looking for a more traditional blender then the Nutribullet Select 1000 will be a good fit for your kitchen.

Equipped with a powerful 1000W motor and a standard blender design with its patented blades and shape, the Nutribullet Select can blend more than just hard ice.

It is designed to be a complete alternative and replacement for standard blenders. The blade, chamber, and ergonomic design are the main selling point for this brand which also happen to be the main reason why people love Nutribullet.

Similarly, the Nutribullet RX takes things to the next level by offering a powerful 1700W motor with the same blender design as the Nutribullet Select.

This variant also has the option to heat food as it processes within the blender, meaning that you can also make soups while you process food.

Lastly, the Nutribullet GO is for people who are always on the go and for people who hate to be tied to cords. The cordless design of this blender makes it easier to carry it virtually anywhere and create smoothies while on the go.

Equipped with a 70W motor that can provide up to 20 blend cycles until its next charge, the Nutribullet GO is the perfect way for you to enjoy a cold smoothie anywhere.

Just throw in ice chips or small ice cubes and your favorite veggie mix or protein powder and blend away.

Just remember, if you have water inside the chamber, you can easily blend everything together much more efficiently vs if you were to just blend everything dry.

Conclusion

The Nutribullet is truly a great way to enjoy smoothies and other beverages. Whether it’s ice, hard fruits, or other tough exterior foods, the Nutribullet can easily blend together everything within minutes.

You may even blend ice cubes provided that you add some water and start with smaller ice cubes.

There are many other blender options offered by this brand too so you can pick and choose a blender that best suits your needs.
