This homemade blueberry lavender almond milk is as easy to make as it is delicious.

A floral almond milk with a nice punch of blueberry, this is a creamy and relaxing drink that is unique and lends an aesthetically pleasing pop of purple to the dinner table.

If you have not used lavender in the kitchen, then this lavender milk is a great place to start.

What Does This Milk Taste Like?

Like matcha green tea, where the more you have it, the more you want it, I believe lavender is a kind of acquired taste.

There is nothing wrong with it, but unlike other flavors, we are not that used to floral flavors. Still, lavender is not overpowering in this milk and pairs perfectly with the sweet and slightly tart flavor of blueberries.

Lavender is one of those flowers that can be used in many dishes, from sauces to cakes and cookies, but my favorite way to use lavender is in milky concoctions.

The soft and gentle aroma from the lavender combined with sweet and fresh blueberries in a creamy base is the perfect beverage for any occasion.

What Inspired This Recipe?

Truth to be told, I was inspired by Trader Joe’s milk to make this recipe. I do like this milk, but my homemade version is slightly different and in a good way.

The store-bought version has a milder lavender flavor, but a stronger sweet taste, plus it has a bunch of extra ingredients I simply didn’t want in my milk.

Any homemade recipe is better because you have better control of the ingredients you are using and the overall flavor.

My version is more floral, extra blueberry-flavored, and lightly sweetened. Everything here is natural.

What Blueberries Are Best For This Recipe?

There are two types to choose from; fresh and frozen blueberries. Fresh blueberries will give a bit creamier mixture but pale color, while the frozen blueberries give the milk a darker color and somehow juicier texture.

I recommend that you try both versions. The fresh blueberries are perfect when in season, but frozen will work in any situation. Before you use frozen blueberries, however, make sure to thaw them.

What Lavender Should I Use?

If you are new to cooking with lavender, then it may be unclear what kind of lavender to use or where to get it.

You can buy dried lavender buds in a store and very easily online. This type of lavender is specially dried and sued in cooking.

If you have lavender in your garden, you can use that as well. Fresh lavender can be slightly less potent compared to dried buds, so simply adjust the amount to use.

When buying lavender, make sure it is culinary-grade. Lavender is used for so many things, from making soaps to scented floral decorations, so always check the labels.

How To Make Homemade Almond Milk

If you want to have it all homemade, then you can make homemade almond milk. For the homemade milk you will need:

  • 1 cup raw almonds
  • 4 cups of water

How to do it:

  1. To soak the almonds; place the almonds in a bowl. Cover them with water (not the 4 cups) and soak overnight.
  2. In the morning, drain and rinse almonds and place them in a food blender.
  3. Blend the almonds with 4 cups of water in a high-speed food blender for 30-60 seconds.
  4. Cover a large bowl with a milk bag or a cheesecloth and pour the almond mixture over the milk bag.
  5. Use your hands to twist the bag and help force all the milk out.
  6. Discard the pulp and transfer to a glass milk container.

How To Serve The Milk

This milk is delicious extra cold, so chill it before serving. You can also pour it into a glass that is filled with ice cubes.

To sweeten your milk, you can use different syrups, like agave, maple syrup, or my personal favorite, honey.

This milk is also greatly enjoyed warmed and served in a mug and when those restless nights knock on your door, you can use this to calm you down and help you fall asleep.

To store milk, you can place it into a glass milk container and keep it in a fridge for up to 4 days – just make sure to shake it well before serving.
