Best Electric Turkey Roasters: Current Picks and Sizes
An electric turkey roaster frees up your main oven for stuffing, vegetables and dessert. The useful question is whether the particular model will fit your turkey, your counter and the way you plan to cook.
Quick answer
For a larger turkey, start with the 22-quart Aroma ART-712SB, advertised for birds up to 26 pounds. For a bird up to 22 pounds, compare the 18-quart NESCO MWR18-14. Those are manufacturer capacity claims, so check the bird’s shape and clearance under the lid before committing to a holiday meal.
The comparison below uses manufacturer specifications, owner’s manuals and a check of the exact linked buying options on October 8, 2026. It is a researched buying guide; we have not cooked matching turkeys in these appliances to compare speed, browning or durability. Prices, sellers and stock can change.

Electric turkey roasters compared
| Model | Size and turkey limit | Why consider it | Buying note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aroma ART-712SB | 22 qt; advertised up to 26 lb | Larger capacity; removable enameled pan and rack | New Amazon offer and manufacturer stock available at our check |
| NESCO MWR18-14, white | 18 qt; advertised up to 22 lb | Porcelain-enamel cookwell; lift-out rack | New third-party Amazon offers; manufacturer listed in stock |
Quarts measure the vessel’s volume. They do not give you a universal turkey-weight limit: the lid, rack, bird’s height and usable cooking space all matter. Use the exact model’s limit, rather than assuming every 18- or 22-quart roaster fits the same bird.
Aroma ART-712SB: a larger-capacity option
The ART-712SB has a stainless steel exterior, a removable enameled steel cooking pan, a metal rack and a self-basting lid. Its dial covers 150–450°F. The low end is a feature for other uses; it is not the recommended roasting temperature for a raw whole turkey.
Aroma’s current product page advertises a 26-pound turkey, although the linked manual’s chart extends to 28 pounds. We use the lower advertised limit here. If your bird is near that size, confirm fit with the manufacturer before buying.
This is the more relevant option when you need capacity beyond the NESCO’s stated 22-pound limit. The tradeoff is finding room to use and store it. Check the appliance’s outside dimensions and the clearance required by its instructions, as well as the pan’s usable space.
Check the Aroma ART-712SB on Amazon. Choose the 22 Qt Silver / ART-712SB variation. Other sizes and colors on the same listing can have different model numbers and capacity limits. The older 18-quart ART-718B previously linked in this guide was unavailable at our check.
Read the manual before the first use, including its initial heating procedure. The ART-712SB manual also prohibits oven bags, so do not transfer a bag-roasting recipe to this appliance.
NESCO MWR18-14: an 18-quart option

NESCO’s MWR18-14 product page identifies an 18-quart, 1,450-watt roaster with a porcelain-enamel cookwell, a rack with lift-out handles and a 200–450°F dial. The manufacturer says it can roast a whole turkey up to 22 pounds.
Consider it if that stated capacity covers the birds you buy and you want a conventional covered roaster. If you regularly buy birds above 22 pounds, choose a larger model rather than assuming they will fit this one.
Check new NESCO MWR18-14 buying options on Amazon. The linked model is white, 18 quart. At our check there was no featured offer, but “See All Buying Options” contained new third-party offers. Check the seller, condition, delivery date and return terms before ordering; you can also check NESCO’s own store.
The MWR18 care guide directs you to wash the cooled lid, rack and cookwell in warm, soapy water, then wipe the base. That supports hand-washing instructions, rather than a blanket claim that the whole appliance is dishwasher-safe.
What to check before buying
Turkey fit and counter space
Decide on your usual bird size first. A roaster that fits this year’s turkey may not fit a taller or differently shaped bird of similar weight. The rack and lid must sit as intended. Do not force the lid closed or remove required parts to squeeze in a larger turkey.
Also plan where the appliance will run. You need a stable, heat-resistant surface with the ventilation and wall clearance in its manual, plus access to a suitable outlet. Think about storage after Thanksgiving and whether you have room to lift a hot lid safely.
Cleaning and replacement parts
A removable pan is useful because you can clean it separately from the electrical base. Follow the exact care instructions for the pan’s finish, and check whether the manufacturer sells replacement lids, racks or pans. Do not assume an enamel finish is a nonstick coating or suitable for every cleaner.
Warm settings and accessories
A “Warm” position is not a substitute for cooking or reheating food to a safe internal temperature. Aroma specifically says its warm setting is for already cooked food. Check food temperature rather than relying on a dial label, and follow both the appliance instructions and food-safety guidance.
Use only accessories approved for your model. Rules for oven bags, foil and added water vary. Food and liquid belong in the removable cooking pan, not directly in the electrical heating base.
Cooking a turkey in an electric roaster
Follow the model’s setup and preheating directions. For whole-turkey roasting, USDA’s electric-roaster guidance calls for a temperature of at least 325°F and checking the appliance manual. Keep the lid on as much as possible; repeated lifting loses heat.
Use a food thermometer to check 165°F in the thickest part of the breast and the innermost thigh and wing, avoiding bone. Cooking time is a planning estimate, not proof that the bird is done. Cook stuffing separately; if it is inside the turkey, its center must also reach 165°F.
For this guide, plan to start with a fully thawed bird. USDA recommends thawing in the refrigerator, cold water or a microwave, following the directions for that method. Do not thaw a turkey on the counter or treat an appliance’s “Defrost” label as a general shortcut. See USDA’s safe-thawing guide.
Place the roaster where it will cook before heating it. Use oven mitts and lift the lid away from you to avoid escaping steam. NESCO’s manual says not to move the appliance while it is operating. A pair of carrying handles does not make a hot, full roaster a travel container.
After the meal, divide turkey into smaller portions and refrigerate in shallow containers within two hours, or one hour if the surrounding temperature is above 90°F. Use refrigerated leftovers within three to four days. USDA’s turkey storage guidance explains why a whole bird in a large cookwell is not the right way to cool leftovers.
What happened to the other recommendations?
We rechecked all nine destinations from the earlier version of this guide. The linked Aroma ART-718B, Hamilton Beach 32235, NESCO ITR-01, Weston 03-4000-W and Chefman 14-quart listings were unavailable. The Kuraidori and Ronco destinations returned missing pages. The Oster listing’s featured offer was used, rather than new. These observations apply to those exact listings on October 8, 2026; they do not establish that every model is permanently discontinued.
We removed those buying recommendations rather than sending you through a long list of unavailable offers. The NESCO ITR-01 upright infrared cooker and Ronco rotisserie also use different cooking arrangements from a conventional oval roaster. Their capacity and instructions should be evaluated separately.
Common questions
Will an 18-quart roaster fit a 24-pound turkey?
Do not assume so. The white NESCO MWR18-14 in this guide is advertised for a turkey up to 22 pounds. Check the exact model’s stated limit and the bird’s fit under the lid.
Does a self-basting lid guarantee crisp skin?
No. It is a lid feature, not a promise of crisp skin. Read the manufacturer’s browning directions if that matters to you.
Will a roaster cook faster than my regular oven?
We cannot promise that for your bird and appliance. Model, temperature, turkey size and how often you open the lid affect timing. Plan from the manual and use a thermometer to decide when the turkey is done.
More help with the holiday meal
If you are comparing cooking methods, see our guide to oils for deep-frying turkey. Electric roasters are not deep fryers; use the proper equipment for each method. For a purchased smoked bird or leftovers, our smoked-turkey reheating guide separates the instructions for those different situations.
