This super easy milkshake is the perfect creamy sweet treat. Cookies, cream, and strawberries are the perfect match! This combo is seriously good; you will definitely want to make this one over and over.

The milkshake is thick and creamy because it has strawberry ice cream as a base. It’s made with super simple ingredients, and it can be made in less than 5 minutes!

Which Milk Should I Use?

The reason this milkshake is super creamy is because I use full-fat milk in the recipe. However, it’s totally not necessary and you can use whichever milk you like best. Just be aware that non-fat milk is thinner, so it won’t be as creamy.

Whole milk, half and half, and cream will result in a thicker milkshake.  For this milkshake, you can use your desired milk, but have in mind that the results may vary.

Which Ice Cream Should I Use?

I am in love with strawberries and their flavor, so naturally I went with strawberry ice cream for the base. This flavor of ice cream is super classic and guaranteed to remind you of your favorite fast-food chain!

You might be wondering, though, if you can use different types of ice cream in this recipe? Well, the answer is both yes and no!

Any good ice cream will give you the necessary creaminess, but not every flavor will bring the appropriate taste. For example, if you go with chocolate ice cream, you will only notice the chocolate flavor!

On the other hand, vanilla may work, but in that case, you may want to use more strawberries or even add some strawberry extract.

So, with whatever flavor you end up choosing, try to make sure it works within the context of a strawberry-Oreo milkshake. Otherwise, you might end up with something completely different!

Choosing Strawberries

When we think of strawberries, we usually believe they are all the same: red, sweet, and perfect for desserts or a snack!

However, knowing which strawberries to look out for can help you choose the best-tasting ones. So, which strawberries are the sweetest?

The sweetest of them all are Alpine strawberries. Other strawberries to consider are the Diamante, Sparkle, Honeoye, and Sequoia.

Also, when choosing your strawberries, make sure to consider their size. Typically, small-to-medium strawberries are sweeter than larger ones.

Are Organic Strawberries Sweeter?

Organic strawberries are not sweeter than conventionally grown strawberries. An organic and conventional strawberry of the same variety picked at the same level of ripeness will both have the same level of sweetness.

Garnishing Your Milkshake

I always add some whipped cream on top, just for some extra creaminess. For this milkshake, I went a step further with the décor and dipped the strawberry into melted white chocolate and coated it with a layer of crushed Oreo cookie crumbs.
