Chocolate chip cookies are a household favorite, a timeless classic, an unparalleled snack, warm, cold, dunked in milk, or enjoyed alone.

No one can resist chocolate chip cookies. Cookies are a part of our life from an early age and nothing beats their amazing scent. A house filled with the smell of freshly baked cookies is something comforting and quite pleasing.

Like many of you, I have come across many chocolate chip cookies recipes…some were good, some weren’t, but I have managed to develop the best possible recipe for the fluffiest chocolate chip cookies

These chocolate chip cookies are extra fluffy, soft, chewy and they turn out perfect every time. This is the only chocolate chip cookies recipe you will ever need.

Every time you make a batch of these cookies the crowd will go crazy so it is always a good idea to make the double recipe…just to be on the safe side.

What Makes Cookies Fluffy?

The key is in the moisture (aka liquid content) and the baking temperature as well as the baking time. When these three are respected you will get fluffy and soft chocolate chip cookies.

Tips For Making Fluffy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Start with butter! Use the butter at room temperature. The softened butter will cream nicely with the sugar and this is the first as well the most important step.

Use the correct sugar: you can choose between the white and brown sugar. The white sugar will help them spread white the brown sugar will give them more flavor. In this recipe, I used white sugar, but you can go with the brown or a mix of both.

Add eggs: the egg is not there just to add fluff. The egg is a binder and will give the right texture while holding all on together.

Chill the cookie dough: you can chill the dough in a fridge for 30 minutes or just chill the prepared cookies for 10 minutes in a freezer before baking. Whatever you choose is correct. This part will keep the cookies in a shape and prevent from overspreading.

Scoop the cookies: I suggest using a 1 ½ tablespoon cookie scoop because it creates a perfect cookie. If you have a large or a smaller scoop it will be also fine. Just watch out the cookies so they do not burn or be under baked. You will know they are done when the tops are set and the edges are lightly golden brown.

Pro tip: if you want perfectly round cookies, use a spoon to shape the warm cookies once they come out of the oven.

Extra chocolate chips: this is optional, but as soon as you get them out of the oven, you can press some extra chocolate chips on top. They will melt right down into the cookie making them extra pretty and extra delicious. Also, some extra melted chocolate is always a good thing.

How To Fix Common Cookie Mistakes

Prevent cookies from being flat: chill the cookie dough in a freezer for 10-15 minutes.

Cookies do not spread at all: too much flour in the cookies can cause the cookies do not spread at all. If somehow you pack in too much flour, press the cookies with the back of the spoon before baking and flatten. To prevent packing in too much flour, level your flour.

The cookies are too soft: if the mixture is too soft and just does not hold any shape, stir in an extra tablespoon of the flour until you have the right consistency. It should be soft yet to hold the shape when a ball is formed.
